Imaret is a boutique hotel set in picturesque Kavala, located in Northern Greece. Built in 1817 in this historical district, Imaret is a masterpiece of late Ottoman architecture. The varied decor, delicate structures, and the interaction between indoors and open spaces and the adaptability of the functional structures, create an unmatched complex blend of high aesthetic and cultural value.
Originally built in 1817 by Mohamed Ali Pasha, the founder of the Egyptian dynasty, the Imaret became a recognized center of learning throughout the Balkans, during the last phase of the Ottoman Empire. After almost a century of neglect, the monument has been fully restored to become the first hotel operating within a historical building in Greece.
Once inside, guests notice a presence of exclusivity and privacy making them feel that the grounds are for their use only. Along the same lines, each bedroom has its own character. These bedrooms carry guest away into another era with the help of glorious sculptured fireplaces, luxurious chandeliers, vaulted high ceilings and the warmth of Persian rugs on the floor.
